When you want to buy something, what's the first thing you do?
Be it clothes ...
Electronics ...
Food ...
Services ...
Luxury goods ...
Pets ...
What's the first thing you physically do?
I'm willing to bet you jump online and do a little research.
Where can you find the cheapest, closest, best rated, highest quality, recommended, and so on.
You have a look and weigh up all the options and decide where you'll buy your new top, your Indian take-away, or who you'll contact to chat about your plumbing issues.
The point is, these sites give you your first impression of the company or person you're going to spend money with. But not only that, they give you, the seller, presence.
Without presence you're just a ghost. You have no physical being. And so no-one will be able to find you.
Today's small business tip is; if you've not already got one: create a website for your business.
It doesn't need to be big.
It doesn't need to be detailed.
And you don't need to spend a fortune on it.
Assuming you're not a website developer, you'll need to find someone who can help you create one; there's plenty of agencies about.
First things first ... yep, you guessed it, have a quick scan online and compare services and prices.
Once live, this website will give you presence. When quoting for work it gives your prospective customers somewhere to go to check you're not a phantom from the 'other side'.
We'll look to post some advice on things to include in your website at a later date but, for now, having one at all will be the right thing to do.
And if you want to give your business some presence, we can help.
Just drop me an email and we'll show you some of the work we've done for others.
Best, Lindsey
