Running a business is hard work, right?
It involves putting in a lot of hours; blood sweat and tears.
For this reason I know how important it is to take the time to decompress.
So there's one time in the week that I simply won't give over to work.
The one night of the week where I will kick-back, relax, and switch-off.
It's Friday evening.
The only evening of the week where I will not put the computer on.
... ever.
Instead, we'll plan what we're going to watch ...
What we're going to eat ...
And, most importantly, what gin we'll be having that night.
These discussions will usually begin on Thursday evening.
The kids will generally have a 'sleepover' in one of their rooms.
There they'll watch a film together before turning in.
So we get a blissful couple of hours to think only of ourselves.
Sure, the inevitable discussion of who's round it is will come up ...
But otherwise this is hallowed time for us.
And it won't be sacrificed for anything.
It's such a cherished time for us that it's now become a habbit.
Which leads me on to today's small business tip: take time to decompress.
Find the time to switch off, doing something you really enjoy.
Something that takes your mind off work, even if only for a short time.
You'll find that when you bring your mind back to work, it's refreshed and ready to go.
You are the most important person in your business -
so take the time to take care of you.
And if you'd like someone to help take care of your business - drop me a note.
Another thing off your mind will make decompression time that much sweeter.
Best, Sarah
P.S. We're currently watching the Handsmaids tale. A little messed up, but worth a watch.
